Kion was resting on top of the rock that hung over the pool of water located at the center of the lair. It had been a nice and quiet day in the Pridelands. Janja and his clan seemed to be staying in the Outlands which was perfectly find for the young prince. There didn't seem to be any problems around the kingdom either. This lead for the guard not really being needed. Not that it ever lasted very long, but it was nice to have some easy days to balance out the ones where there was problem after problem.
However as nice as it was to have down time to relax or play, it was also a good chance to have some training. Practice helped to keep their skills up and even improve them. Not to mention it kept them ready for when an emergency did happen. The young cub stretched his front paws out as he got up. "Okay, Guys. That's enough rest for now. It's time to start training. We want to be ready for the next mission." Kion called out to get the others' attention. What kind of training should they do this time....
The cheetah was sitting on a rock near the water's edge. Her soft pink tongue running over the fur of her paw as she bathed herself a little bit. It wasn't like the guard was doing anything else right now. Everything seemed fine in the Pridelands which meant that they could pretty much do whatever they wanted and that was perfectly fine for this cheetah.
Fuli licked her paw some more before looking up above her when Kion spoke up from the ledge that hung over the pool. Training time? Now? But she was enjoying her bath. Ah, well. It would be more fun to do some training on such a slow day like this. Besides, if they did get a mission she would need another bath anyway. She rose to her feet and stretched out her front paws. "Alright. So, what have you got planned this time, Kion?" The cub asked with a tilt of her head. Whatever it was, she was always ready.
Bung had joined the others in being lazy around the cave for the day, the Pride Land’s being unusually quiet. He, of course, had made sure to have brought a nice, tasty collection of bugs to enjoy. After all, you really couldn’t have a lazy day without snacks, right? Oh, and one of them was even trying to run away, but a quick flick of his claws and it was munching time. It was even an extra crunchy too, which was awesome!
He was right in the middle of stuffing in another handful of bugs when Kion made the announcement about training. ”Aww, already? I just got started eating” he moaned, some of the little bug parts falling out of his mouth as he did so. Still, he was a loyal member of the Guard to the end, so when Kion said it was time to train, it was time to train
The 'Keenest of Sight' was preening, enjoying the peace and quiet. It wasn't too often that the guard had any time to themselves anymore. Not that he would trade being on the guard for anything in the world, but some downtime was always welcome... Hah, down-time, he thought, as he plucked out a small, troublesome feather from his chest.
Still, he was quick to his wings when Kion announced that it was training time, waiting for the lion to tell them what their current task would be.
He leapt down from the ledge he was on and looked to each of his friends. All of them seemed ready at his command whether they were truly ready to stop relaxing or not. Kion really was blessed to have such good friends. A smile touched his lips before he nodded. "Alright. It's getting close to the rainy season so we need to practice moving through the mud faster." He decided on.
Getting ready for the rainy season and all the trouble that started up because of the excess rain would be a good start. "Beshti, can you make us some mud to practice with? Ono, I need you to keep your eye out while we run this one. Come on guys!" The young prince ordered as he lead the group out to find a nice spot for their training to take place.
Fuli watched as Kion came down to the lower level of the hideout. She tilted her head some waiting for what kind of training they were going to do today. However the second the mention of 'mud' was made, the cheetah made a face. "Ugh. I just took a bath! Does it really have to be mud?" The young female asked with a tone of annoyance.
But she did know that the lion cub had a point, as much as she wanted to argue on it. Having some practice moving through mud would help them do it faster and faster was everything about her. But did she really have to intentionally get muddy?"Fine. Let's just hurry up and do this already." Fuli finally gave in as she followed to a pool of water. Once there Beshti splashed the water out to soak the surrounding ground and soften the soil. Mud it was. Ugh....
”Wait, we’re going to practice in the mud? Awesome!”
Sure, he might have loved eating bugs more, but if training today meant playing around in the mud, he could live with it. It was all squishy and fun to slide around in, and it really helped cool you down. Sure you got a little dirty, but whatever. All that meant you had to do was go jump in a lake or the river, which was also fun! He had no idea why Fuli hated it so much.
He waited eagerly for Beshti to splash water on the ground, and the moment that it was all nice and muddy, Bunga was ready.
With a running leap, Bunga jumped right into the mud, splashing it about (probably onto Fuli a little) and sliding a couple feet before turning around and laying on his back. Crossing his arms behind his head, he just smiled, letting out a sigh of relaxation. ”Yeah, that really hit the spot.”
